Roy Campanella, born on November 19, 1921 in Homestead, Pennsylvania, was an American professional baseball player. He became the first African-American catcher in Major League Baseball history upon joining the Brooklyn Dodgers. Campanella died on June 26, 1993 in Los Angeles, California.
