Huey P. Newton was the political activist who founded the Black Panther Party. He earned a PhD in social philosophy. With his leadership, the Black Panther Party created more than 60 community support programs. These included the Free Breakfast for Children Program, clothing banks, medical clinics, housing cooperatives, sickle cell anemia tests, and legal advice seminars.
