About James Braddock

James J. Braddock was the American world heavyweight boxing champion from 1935 to 1937. He began professional fighting in 1926, but his career went downhill after he lost to light-heavyweight champion Tommy Loughran in 1929. During the Great Depression he returned to work on the docks, but burst into the scene again in 1934 with several astonishing victories. His quick rise to fame earned him the nickname, “The Cinderella Man.” Throughout his career, he had 68 bouts and 51 wins (26 by knockout).
