CMG Worldwide to Represent Legacy of Carl Sagan, Visionary Astronomer and Educator
This strategic collaboration is set to inspire global audiences through Sagan’s timeless vision and scientific spirit.
Beverly Hills, California — Today, CMG Worldwide announced an exclusive partnership with the estate of Carl Sagan, renowned astronomer, educator, and bestselling author whose influential works like Cosmos and his pioneering research on planetary science still shape how millions understand space and our place in it. This collaboration establishes CMG Worldwide as the exclusive representative of Sagan’s name, image, likeness, and intellectual property around the world.
Few figures have made science feel as human—and as urgent—as Carl Sagan. A renowned astronomer, bestselling author, and visionary educator, Sagan transformed public understanding of the universe through both his intellect and his ability to inspire awe. He made the cosmos not just accessible, but personal, inviting generations to ponder our place in a vast, interconnected universe. His landmark television series Cosmos: A Personal Voyage reached over 700 million viewers across more than 180 Countries, making it one of the most-watched series in global television history.
Sagan’s scientific achievements were as profound as his storytelling. He briefed the Apollo astronauts before they left for the moon, played, key roles in NASA’s Mariner, Viking, Voyager, and Galileo missions, shedding light on the atmospheres of Venus, Mars, and Jupiter’s moons, and was a co-discoverer of nuclear winter. He led the group that created the Voyager Golden Record, a message from humanity launched into deep space, and co-founded The Planetary Society, now the world’s largest independent space organization.
As a leading member of the Voyager Imaging team, Sagan mounted a ten year campaign to turn Voyager 1’s camera homeward to take one last picture. With a voice that combined poetic wonder and scientific rigor, he helped us see Earth as a fragile “pale blue dot,” worthy of our reverence and protection. His books, including Cosmos, The Demon-Haunted World, and the Pulitzer Prize-winning The Dragons of Eden, continue to influence thinkers, teachers, and creators around the globe. His novel, Contact was made into a film starring Jodie Foster. He is the subject of two major motion pictures to be released in 2026 and 2027, which will also be the 50th anniversary of the launch of the legendary Voyagers.
Under this new representation agreement, CMG Worldwide will oversee all aspects of Carl Sagan’s intellectual property, including licensing, sponsorships, endorsements, and collaborative projects designed to further his mission of making science accessible, inspiring, and relevant to all.
