Leo Durocher was born July 27, 1905 in West Springfield, Massachusetts. He played for various teams between 1928 and 1938, and gained notoriety as manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers; he was suspended from managing for the entire 1947 season for “conduct detrimental to baseball.” He managed the Giants from 1948 to 1955, left to become a commentator, returned as coach for the Dodgers, and managed the Cubs and the Astros.
